Sandra de Gruchy our 2023/24 President
Our Rotarians are people of action, connecting with passionate like-minded people with diverse perspectives, giving hope to the lives of people in our local community and further afield.
Rotary is an amazing organisation and being a Rotarian is a journey, and a rewarding one at that. To quote a phrase: ‘Our greatest resource is not our funds but our people, the members.
Ultimately, it’s all about the wonderful projects we are involved in, the connections we make and the friendships we develop, and how we try to make a difference. Getting out and about is a great opportunity for our members to social network while having fun.
We are a service club first and the more times we are seen out and about in the community, the more we bring greater awareness to the public.
Rotary International President Gordon McInally's theme for 2023 - 2024 is  ‘Create Hope In The World’. Many people are in need throughout our community and the world where their only hope will come from Rotary.
Create together and we change and save lives, we connect, we inspire.
The focus for my year as President:
  • To continue on with the Homelessness and ‘It’s Not Just A Cookbook’ Projects
  • To continue to work with the Youth Hub ( the six Blue Mountains Rotary Clubs and the e-Club) in partnership with other Youth Organisations such as MYST and local schools, providing opportunities to connect, support, and engage our young people.
  • To support the Membership Hub in working towards attracting new members to the Rotary Family.
  • Promoting DCaf - Creating a supportive community network for people suffering from dementia as well as support for their families and carers.
  • To enhance the promotion of our Club’s projects and to tell our Rotary Stories.

Youth Programs

Every year, thousands of talented and dedicated young people, ages 12-30, have an incredible experience in a Youth Services program. From leadership and experiential learning, these programs can change a young person's life.

Fundraising

Most community programs need not only our time and attention but they need funds. Our Club like most Rotary clubs are out there fundraising for a specific purpose or cause. Click here to find out more about some of our fundraisers.

Projects

The members and friends of Upper Blue Rotary are a committed group of men and women who manage and implement a range of projects benefiting our community, both locally and overseas. These projects often start with an idea from an individual. Club News

We launched our fabulous "It's Not Just a Cookbook" at Katoomba RSL on Tuesday 29th December. Some 160 friends from our community turned up to honour the legacy of the late Irene Reid. This cookbook produced by our Club recognises the selfless work Irene did for our community as a chef, hospitality manager and caterer. Bob Reid OAM  and extended family were so appreciative of the work and love that has gone into producing this book. It was a wonderful night enjoyed by everyone. Moreso because all money raised from the sale of this book goes to our Homelessness Project in the Mountains. We have now sold over 500 books in the lead up to Christmas. That represents $20,000 into our Homeless Project.

The book sells for $40.00 (plus postage if required), and we provide tax deductibility.

We will, as much as possible, sell the book through community markets and pop-ups around the Mountains.

Our Club has made a long-term commitment to helping the homeless in the Blue Mountains. We have now raised over $75,000, to this critically important Mountains initiative. This is just the beginning.

A group of Rotary Clubs are now negotiating with a range of stakeholders, including state government, BMCC , social housing organisations and corporates on advancing this major project. We will make some announcements over the next few months about the use of these funds and how they will benefit those homeless folk in the Mountains.
